Electrical Design Engineer

Permanent / Full Time
£45,000 – £50,000 per annum

Main Duties

Key Responsibilities (Rotating Machines):

  • Creating new electrical designs based on a series of design rules;
  • To operate within company guidelines and procedures;
  • Attending both in-house and external meetings;
  • Assisting the sales team in costing and preparing quotations for customers;
  • Direct involvement in providing support and technical knowledge where required;
  • Liaising with external departments including Sales, Production, Quality, Test and Purchasing.

Key Responsibilities (Transformers):

  • The generation of both tender and contract transformer designs;
  • To meet the requirements for tender/contract design data in accordance with the agreed due dates;
  • Liaison with external customers and other departments as necessary;
  • Ensuring that procedures and processes are properly reviewed and worked to;
  • The continual improvement of quality and environmental standards;
  • Cooperate and coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve design quality;
  • Continuous development of design processes and procedures;
  • The maintenance of housekeeping standards dictated by the company;
  • The proper utilisation and maintenance of all equipment provided for his/her use;
  • Analysis of Quality Alerts, actioned appropriately and in a timely manner;
  • Contribution to companywide Transformer Engineering and Manufacturing initiatives;
  • To ensure the requirements of new technology are assessed and effectively utilised;
  • Contribution to companywide Transformer Engineering and Manufacturing initiatives;

Requirements to carry out the role

  • GCSEs High school or equivalent;
  • Degree or Tertiary Qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel and VBA programming.
  • Ability to read Engineering Drawings (Solidworks & Autocad)
  • The ability to work to targets as part of a small team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail are essential
