Switchgear & Instruments

Winder Power supplies a full range of high quality medium and low voltage switchgear. At Winder Power we have the ability to design and manufacture instrumentation and control panels for practically all transformer applications.

We can cater for any type of switchgear installation, from a single LV circuit breaker panel, to large, multiple panel 33kV switchboards.

The Winder team’s extensive knowledge and expertise of providing the most suitable and best quality solutions is what makes us the perfect choice to cater for all switchgear applications.

In addition to switchgear installation, we also provide bespoke protection devices, control equipment and metering instruments, which can be supplied as an integral part of the switchgear panel, or in a separate remote enclosure depending on your needs. A full range of switchgear commissioning can also be provided along with retrofits, modifications and maintenance projects.

We also offer either free-standing or tank mounted on load tap changer and protection equipment control panels. The Winder team is always on hand to discuss your needs.

What is Switchgear?

Within an electric power system, switchgear is the term used for the combination of electrical disconnection switches, fuses or circuit breakers which are used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment.

Switchgear is used to de-energise equipment as well as to allow work to be done, and also to clear faults downstream. This type of equipment is important because it is directly linked to the reliability of the electricity supply.

Typically, the switchgear found in substations is located on both the high voltage and low voltage side of large power transformers.
