At Winder Power, we take pride not just in the power we deliver, but in the partnerships we build – and that includes our commitment to giving back. This year, we’re proud to have Emmaus Leeds as our Charity Partner of the Year, and even prouder to support the vital work they do helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness.
To raise funds and awareness, a team from Winder Power, suppliers, and customers took on the Coast to Coast cycle challenge – a three-day, 282km journey across the north of England. Together, we’ve raised over £4,700, and every mile and muscle ache – was well worth it.
Day 1 – Morecambe to Burnsall (84km)
The team dipped their wheels in the Sea at Morecambe and set off with nothing but determination. The route led into the Yorkshire Dales – beautiful, but full of tough climbs that demanded real effort. With teamwork and perseverance, the group arrived in Burnsall, ready to rest and refuel.
Day 2 – Burnsall to Pocklington (125km)
The longest and most demanding day took riders over varied terrain, through quiet lanes and open farmland. Pacing, nutrition, and group support were key, as 125km is no small task – especially with tired legs. Spirits stayed high, and the team made it to Pocklington with a sense of accomplishment.
Day 3 – Pocklington to Bridlington (73km)
The final push to the east coast brought the sea back into view – this time the North Sea at Bridlington. The flatter landscape offered some relief, and the team rode with renewed energy, buoyed by the cause and the finish line ahead. By the end, there was a shared sense of pride in what had been achieved – not just in distance, but in purpose.
Emmaus Leeds provides much more than accommodation – they offer meaningful work, personal support, and a sense of belonging to people who’ve experienced homelessness. Their ethos of social enterprise and dignity through work aligns with our values at Winder Power: long-term thinking, sustainability, and people at the core of everything.
We’d like to thank everyone who donated and supported. Your contribution has helped raise over £4,700, supporting life-changing work in our community.
