How We Do Health & Safety at Winder Power

At Winder Power, safety isn’t just a box we tick – it’s something we live by every day. Whether we’re on the factory floor at our Leeds based facility or out on site, we make sure everyone goes home safe.

In our Leeds facility, we’ve built a strong safety culture. We run regular audits, hold toolbox talks, and make sure everyone’s up to speed with the latest safety guidance. Our Health & Safety team works closely with every department, and we’re proud to be ISO 45001 certified.

We also keep things fresh with regular fire drills, first aid training, and updates from trusted sources like RoSPA and the British Safety Council.

When we’re out on site – whether that be site surveys, installing or refurbishing transformers – we take the same care. We follow detailed risk assessments, wear the right PPE, and make sure every site has trained first aiders and working fire extinguishers.

We also carry out monthly safety audits at different sites to make sure our standards stay high.

We don’t just train for the sake of it. Our sessions are hands on, practical, and tailored to what our teams actually face – both in the factory and out in the field. We’re always looking for ways to upskill our people, especially our supervisors and managers who then pass the knowledge on to their teams further.

This year we are proud to have received the RoSPA Presidential Award – recognising over 10 years of the highest standards in health and safety performance. But what really matters is the day to day effort our teams put in to keep each other safe.

Our HSE Manager Lucy says:

“It’s inspiring to work somewhere that genuinely cares about safety. Everyone plays their part, and that’s what makes the difference.”
